How To Make Dalgona Whipped Coffee

Stuck at home with the Kids and trying to patiently do remote learning?

Then sometimes, like me, to get through the day you need a strong coffee, especially when you are in isolation or under Shelter-in-Place orders and trying to juggle working from home and the kids and pets.

You may have seen on Tik Tok or Instagram a type of creamy and fluffy coffee start to appear. This whipped coffee is also known as Dalgona coffee or even Tik Tok coffee and its taking lockdown residents by storm.

Its made by whipping up 3 simple ingredients of Instant coffee, sugar and water with the resulting toffee like substance to then be spooned over milk.

It first came to popularity in Korea where it is said that the smell was a reminder of South Korean honeycomb toffee sweet called, you guessed it ‘Dalgona’.

Its a rather simple recipe and process to make BUT I highly recommend using a powered mixer/whisk. The ingredients should be ones that you already have at home and is one of the reasons of its popularity as you don’t need to have any special coffee contraptions to make it.

2 Tbsp instant coffee
2 Tbsp white sugar
2 Tbsp water

Mix vigorously until fluffy with a powered whisk. You can attempt to do this by hand but be prepared to get a locked wrist with all of that mixing.

I didn’t quite capture the fluffiness in this video but you should still get the concept.

Have you tried making it? Let us know in the comments below on how your Dalgona Coffee turned out.
